2015 in Review

2015 was a big year in the Perez-Beck household– we moved 5,629 miles from Washington, DC to Nicosia, Cyprus after Sev spent almost a year getting learned in Greek language. We’ve learned to drive on the wrong side of the road, and now (mostly) remember to stay left.

Domestic (U.S.) Travel:  We traveled to two weddings in two states— Chris & Emily’s in Austin, Texas and Tim & Sara’s in Southwest Harbor, Maine! We started out the year in Encinitas. We also went to Boston, Massachusetts and Assateague Island. Sev went to Portland & Hood River while Amanda worked.

Domestic (Cyprus) Travel:  We’ve driven all around this island. We explored Cape Greco, Ayia Napa, Paphos, Kyrenia, Famagusta, and Salamis. We celebrated our first anniversary at the (accidentally) fanciest hotel on the island, the Anassa.

International Travel:  We traveled to three countries for an epic Christmas road trip (recap ongoing):  Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria.  Sev also took a language immersion trip to Greece (Crete & Athens) and Amanda went to Berlin for work.

Visitors:  We hosted our first visitors in Cyprus– two of Sev’s friends visited from Lithuania came in September and Sally came in October.  Secretary of State Kerry visited Nicosia in December and Amanda got to take notes during his meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci.
